F47 - Rooney dive against Bournemouth 2016

Sport: Football Category: Diving
Submitted by: Anonymous
Context:

Manchester United were winning 0-1 away to Bournemouth in the first game of the 2016-17 EPL season when Rooney takes a dive in the penalty area to try to cheat his team's way to a penalty.

Outcome:

No penalty was awarded but, as almost ever, he gets away with his attempt to con the referee.  Referees should book players for diving, so that they are deterred from cheating like this again.  Better still, allow referees access to video replays so that they can make better decisions and allow matches to be reviewed afterwards so that cheating to be picked up and punished.  United went on to win 1-3.
