F46 - Gary Neville sees red after diving for Man United

Sport: Football Category: Diving

Manchester United were winning 0-1 at home to local rivals Manchester City in the 5th round of the FA Cup in Feb 2004.  Gary Neville tried to take the ball into the City penalty area but was tackled.  Having lost the ball, Nevill dived like a swan and then showed his anger at not winning a penalty.

A free for all resulted, with Neville butting Steve McManaman in the melee.  The referee gave him a yellow for diving and another for head butting an opponent, so he was sent off.  The United defence then let in 3 goals but, luckily, scored another 3, to win the game.  They  won the Cup that season.
